Los Angeles native Ash is a classically trained tenor who regularly performs in operas around the world – but he has never forgotten his first love: contemporary music.
As a child, Ash was surrounded by the sounds of Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Luther Vandross and Anita Baker. Their influence can be detected in his soulful sound and extraordinary voice.
An only child, Ash was raised by his mother and great-grandmother in the suburbs of LA. Always in love with singing, after attending Chapman University he landed his first major role with the Los Angeles Opera and has since worked with many opera companies around the world.
In 2014, he signed with D/A Music Group while in London on holiday and is proud to release his debut singles.
‘The Best in You’ is “a feel-good track”, Ash explains. With its roots in old-school soul, it evokes a laid-back romantic evening, with Ash singing: “forget that sexy little dress, that sweet perfume, just wear that killer smile and thats enough”.
‘Give It Back’ meanwhile is a break-up song combining old-school R&B with an acoustic vibe. As Ash explains: “[Often] after it’s clear things are about to end, we often feel like we’ve wasted our time, energy and efforts on someone who just simply didn’t care. I’m asking for my love to be returned so I can give it to someone else.”
