London-based Belgian singer-songwriter Andre Tajchman blends soulful melodies with contemporary abstract beats, creating a sound which is unique yet radio-friendly.
After a lonely childhood feeling ignored and rejected by his peers, Andre concentrated on art and music as an escape from the rigid expectations placed on him.
Andre began posting cover versions online, and later wowed in Belgium’s version of The Voice. He then moved to London to study architecture, and built himself into the artist he wanted to be.
Influenced by artists such as Nina Simone, Billie Holiday and Janis Joplin, Andre explains his debut single “Weird Kid”
as the story of an outcast retracing his own steps. He says: “I finally understand the power of thinking for myself and not letting other people dictate what I should do or who I should be. ‘Weird Kid’ is about overcoming obstacles and using that experience to fortify yourself as an individual.’
