BBC presenter Dani Bailey enthusiastically introduced the track and LILLY, who is both an actress and a
singer from Buckinghamshire. The station which supports unsigned, undiscovered and under-the-radar musicians from Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire, had the exclusive first play of Heavy Water on their evening show on the 4th of June in the run up to it’s release.
LILLY upcoming single Heavy Water has been fantastically previewed on BBC Three Countries introducing show. Taking inspiration for the likes of Ella Fitzgerald and Nina Simone Lilly’s strong and soulful voice flows over the trance-like bass and drums in this mournful debut track. Building throughout this emotive song, LILLY’s honest approach to music shines through the clear and powerful lyrics, as she depicts someone who simply cannot live with their sadness any longer. LILLY, like many of her contempories such as Wolf Alice and Lapsley, believes music should tell as story, and Heavy Water is the perfect embodiment of that.
